You may remember the story of Parker, a 16 year old boy who died from an undiagnosed heart condition in November of 2021. In spite of their grief, his family rallied the support of extended family and friends to do something in his memory, and to find a cause that was near and dear to Parker.
Parker had a love and compassion for animals so they decided to find a tiny shelter where they could make the biggest impact. And they chose us. They graciously showed up in the rain last year on Parker’s birthday and showered us with food, toys, litter, cleaning supplies, and a check for $500.
This year they came back. They had collected twice the amount of supplies and monetary donations as the previous year.
This is a family who suffered a tremendous loss, and channeled their grief and pain into a collective positive effort, for which we are humbled and grateful to be the beneficiary. It is both heartwarming and bittersweet.
Parker would have turned 18 on 1/23/23. In his memory, we are dedicating our newly created kitten/new intake room (currently in progress) to Paws for Parker. We will keep you updated on the room’s progress as we complete several renovations and additions.
Parker’s family inspires and encourages us and we are very grateful for our relationship with them.
